Position Summary South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable and detail‑oriented Pharmacy Technician to support safe, accurate, and efficient medication dispensing within our clinical programs. This role is responsible for assisting pharmacists with medication preparation, inventory management, prescription processing, and patient support while ensuring full compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The Pharmacy Technician works with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism, collaborating closely with pharmacists, prescribers, and clinical teams to maintain seamless medication workflows. This position is essential in promoting a culture of safety, precision, and patient‑centered care across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Six months experience as a pharmacy technician/clerk.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential through PTCB or NHA • One year pharmacy technician experience in a hospital setting Duties and Responsibilities
Follow up daily to ensure proper medication is routed to proper units (CSU, CCSU, etc.) upon discharge
Check Medicaid cards on medifax machine.
Prepare prescriptions for verification by pharmacist
Assist pharmacists in filling prescriptions.
Ensure meds are correct for outpatient clients and questions are answered
Check for outdated drugs and alert pharmacist
Core Competencies MEDICAL/MENTAL HEALTH Knowledge of use and dispensing of medications
Knowledge and ability to read and comprehend physician’s orders relating to medications and treatments
Must possess good communication skills and pleasant demeanor with clients and staff
Basic computer, data entry skills, filing, medifax machine, telephone skills.
Physical Demands
Active Clinical Environment: Standing and walking for extended periods during high-volume pharmacy shifts.
Manual Dexterity: Precise handling of small medications, operating automated dispensing systems, and performing sterile compounding.
Logistical Movement: Ability to lift medication totes, restock inventory shelves
Working Conditions
