Registered Nurse (RN) – Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
Position Summary South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality inpatient psychiatric care within our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). This role focuses on supporting individuals in acute mental health crisis with the goal of stabilization and recovery. The RN works both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, patient-centered care. Success in this role requires sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively in high-acuity situations.

Minimum Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida (required)
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric/mental health nursing experience (preferred)
Knowledge of:
Baker Act and client rights
Confidentiality and abuse reporting regulations
Psychotropic medications and side effects
OSHA standards and bloodborne pathogens
BLS Certification (preferred)
Associate degree in Nursing or higher (preferred)
Duties and Responsibilities Direct Patient Care
Administer and monitor medications; document effectiveness and side effects
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for all admitted clients
Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies
Provide one-to-one observation and implement safety precautions as needed
Assist clients with activities of daily living
Crisis Intervention & Monitoring
Intervene verbally and/or physically during behavioral crises following protocol
Monitor clients under suicide, homicide, and restraint precautions
Initiate and document restraint and seclusion procedures
Treatment & Collaboration
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and team meetings
Educate clients and families on treatment, medications, and wellness
Lead psychoeducational groups (e.g., hygiene, substance abuse, nutrition)
Communicate effectively with families and care teams
Clinical Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes and care plans
Review and follow physician orders
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards
Additional Clinical Duties
Perform blood draws and collect lab specimens
Provide minor wound care and monitor special diets
Assess and address clients’ physical health concerns

Working Conditions
Acute care psychiatric environment (Crisis Stabilization Unit)
Exposure to high-stress and emotionally charged situations
Potential for interaction with agitated or aggressive individuals
Requires adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols

Schedule & Work Details Full-Time Shift: 8:00am-4:30pm Schedule: may include weekends Location: In-person (Delray Beach, FL)
